NASHVILLE, TENN. – Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington has announced his sophomore album When I Write The Song, a follow-up to his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, set for September 12. A taste of the 14-song jaunt made for barrooms and honky tonks, Worthington today releases “My Home’s In Oklahoma,” an infectious western swing toe-tapper.

Pre-save / pre-add / pre-order When I Write The Song here.

“This record means to me…it’s a reminder to fight the good fight,” shares the 2025 Texas Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year nominee. “I’m a strong believer in ‘do what moves ya.’ Make the kind of music that wrecks your world or picks up all the pieces.”

“If it makes you feel that kind of way, and if that’s what you need, then don’t let anybody or anything change that. That’s what this record is to me,” Worthington continues.

Worthington’s forthcoming album doubles down on the authentic country sounds of his debut self-titled album that Texas Monthly defined as “gorgeous beer-joint purism.” With all-star features from Miranda Lambert, Marty Stuart and Mae Estes, When I Write The Song was produced by esteemed hitmakers Joey Moi, Jon Randall and Chuck Ainlay. The ethos of the album, sonically reminiscent of greats like Jones, Waylon and Strait, can be summed up as, “music undaunted by time” (The Tennesseean).

Today’s release, “My Home’s In Oklahoma,” was produced by Randall and Ainlay. Written by Worthington alongside Will Banister and Roger Springer, the new song is “a double-shot of Texas country” (Billboard). Laden with heaps of steel and fiddle, the new track finds its home on When I Write The Song, alongside viral “It Ain’t The Whiskey,” which is nominated for Texas Country Music Association’s Country Single of the Year, Lambert collab “Hello Shitty Day,” “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart)” and most recent “Not Like I Used To.”

Listen to “My Home’s In Oklahoma” here.

Displaying his honky-tonk stylings on stage, Billboard declared that a recent live set of Worthington’s, “conjured up the ghosts of country legends like George Jones and Waylon Jennings with his twangy, authentic traditionalism and big voice.” He will continue to bring pure country anthems to venues across North America, joining Zach Top as direct support on all dates of the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour, followed by supporting slots on Jon Pardi‘s Honkytonk Hollywood Tour. NASHVILLE, TENN. – Today Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington releases swaying new ballad “Not Like I Used To,” flanked by steel and fiddle. The cover art features a portrait shot by legendary hall-of-famer and recent collaborator Marty Stuart. The song itself is marked by Worthington’s signature, “confident, assured style — seemingly frozen in amber, floating in dive-bar dust” (The Tennessean).

“It’s a song about the way it was,” Worthington shares. “It’s the fourth song we’re putting out from the upcoming project. Brand new country song from the same ole country boy.”

Worthington penned “Not Like I Used To” alongside Monty Criswell and Derek George. Exemplifying his commitment to authentic Texas country with a deep devotion to the genre’s heritage” (Holler), the song laments a great love gone by:

“I knew every move

What made her laugh

What made her cry

And even though

She let me go

I’m still holding her tight…

But not like I used to

Not like I did once upon a time

Not like I used to

When she was mine”

Listen to “Not Like I Used To” here.

Today’s release follows the success of recent tongue-in-cheek toe-tapper It Ain’t The Whiskey” that has racked up over 40 million listens. Earlier this year, the Texas native released I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart) – and was joined by superstar Miranda Lambert last fall for Hello Shitty Day.”

Announced today, Worthington will join Zach Top as direct support on all dates of the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour – with notable stops at beloved venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sept. 28 and 29. On sale begins June 27.

Displaying his honky-tonk stylings on CMA Fest stages earlier this month, Billboard declared that Worthington, “conjured up the ghosts of country legends like George Jones and Waylon Jennings with his twangy, authentic traditionalism and big voice,” during his set. He will continue to bring pure country anthems to venues across the country, including a run of home-state shows dubbed Jake Worthington’s Texas Two Step, followed by supporting slots on Jon Pardi’s Honkytonk Hollywood Tour and Top’s Cold Beer & Country Music Tour. JAKE WORTHINGTON’S RUN IN WITH THE LAW: “IT AIN’T THE WHISKEY”

April 25, 2025

FAN-FAVORITE SONG AMASSED 25+ MILLION PRE-RELEASE LISTENS

ON TOUR WITH ZACH TOP AND JON PARDI

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington today releases “It Ain’t The Whiskey,” the pure country toe-tapper recounting a tongue-and-cheek run in with the law that fans have been fervently asking for. Racking up over 25 million pre-release listens across the viral clips of Worthington teasing the track.

“I tend to write songs from the research department,” shares Worthington. “First year I was married me and my wife found ourselves in the back of a cop car. That’s what this one’s about.”

Written alongside Will Banister, Jeff Hyde and Roger Springer, “It Ain’t The Whiskey” is Worthington at his best with “pure Texas drawl” (Billboard) and “signature country-as-cornbread charm” (MusicRow) defending his innocence: It ain’t the whiskey it’s the woman by my side…

Last night we’s headed home ’bout a quarter ’til ten

I guess I swerved just a little where the road didn’t bend

I didn’t see the law but the law saw me

I heard “I represent the state of Tennessee”

Listen to “It Ain’t The Whiskey” here.

Proving his pedigree as a “neo-traditional country prodigy” (Holler), the new song follows recent collaborations with legendary hall-of-famer Marty Stuart – “I’m The One” – and superstar Miranda Lambert, “Hello Shitty Day.” The latter written by songwriting giants Dean Dillon, Jessie Jo Dillon, Jesse Frasure and Lambert.

Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, Worthington will continue to bring two-step anthems to venues across the country. He will be supporting Zach Top throughout the spring with festival and headline dates in the summer followed by Jon Pardi’s Honkytonk Hollywood Tour in the fall. NASHVILLE, TENN. – Just hours after performing the song in country music’s hallowed Circle at the Grand Ole Opry, Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington, known for his steel-soaked catalog of “music undaunted by time” (The Tennessean), releases “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart).”

The La Porte, Texas native wrote the song alongside Stuart and Jenna LaMaster with legendary hall-of-famer Stuart lending his masterful guitar talents to the song. With more new music on the horizon, “I’m The One” proves why Worthington is “infinitely valued as a fundamental part of the neotraditional movement afoot again in country music” (The Tennessean) and “his signature country-as-cornbread charm” (MusicRow) is front and center:

If she’s looking for a true blue, dirt road charmer

NASHVILLE, TENN. / AUSTIN, TEXAS – Big Loud Texas’ second-ever signing was announced this evening from the Ascend stage in Nashville by Texas-born superstar and label co-founder Miranda Lambert at her inaugural MuttNation Music for Mutts benefit concert: Jake Worthington. Billboard dubs Worthington a “hard-country singer” and Wide Open Country raves the La Porte, Texas-native “is poised to become a leader in traditional Texas country.”

“I’m really proud to say, I get to announce this from stage tonight,” Lambert started. “I’m a co-founder of a new label called Big Loud Texas, and our sole job is to keep the outlaw movement going and to keep the great stuff from the great state of Texas out there for the people. And as of last week, we got one of my favorite artists of all time on our label. I want y’all to welcome back to the stage my friend Jake Worthington! Did y’all hear him earlier? He is country as a biscuit, and I love it!”

“I’ve been both Big Loud and Texas through and true for a while now, so it sure feels good to make it official like this,” Worthington adds.

Earlier this month in an interview with Texas Monthly, Worthington doubled down about his new label home: “It’s really cool to see a label go up in Austin. I think it’s even cooler that somebody like Miranda and Jon are on the forefront of that. . . . I hear them old glory days stories [about] when there used to be some players in the game—labels in Texas. It’s really great for our music. It’s going to give a lot of songwriters and singers a new avenue. And it’s great for the state of Texas.”

“We are so glad to welcome Jake Worthington to Big Loud Texas!” VP of Big Loud Texas Brendon Anthony says. “Jake is 100% country through and through, and we could not be more excited to have him on board!”

“No words can describe my excitement of having Jake Worthington on the Big Loud Texas team. Every time I hear him sing, I’m reminded of why I fell in love with country music in the first place,” Big Loud Texas Co-Founder and President of A&R Jon Randall shares. “Grab a six pack and hang on, it’s about to get real.”

Already getting to work, Worthington and Lambert released down-on-your-luck duet “Hello Shitty Day” just over a week ago to high praise. Whiskey Riff says the steel-soaked lament is “a honky tonk classic,” and PEOPLE calls it “a major country music collaboration.”

EARLY ACCLAIM FOR “HELLO SHITTY DAY”

“This collaboration with Lambert is another milestone in a banner year for Worthington” – Cowgirl Magazine

” ‘Hello Shitty Day’…finds both Texans opining on their bad luck as their harmonies spin and dip in perfect time around a dusty ballroom floor.” – Holler

“harmonizing lamentations on the good and bad we all face in day-to-day life, welcoming both triumphs and tribulations in the process.” – PEOPLE

“sounds like a lost track from the Red Headed Stranger, with Lambert adding an echoey ‘hello, hello’ that evokes Willie’s ‘Hello Walls.’” – Texas Monthly

“gorgeous and classic, and Miranda and Jake sound beautiful together…it’s country as hell.” – Whiskey Riff

Tomorrow, Worthington heads west to bring his honky-tonk tendencies to Utah’s RedWest Fest, before a run of East Coast dates with Kameron Marlowe next weekend. He was just announced on select support dates of Riley Green‘s 2025 Damn Country Music Tour and will open a can’t-miss evening at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium for fellow traditionalist Zach Top in February.
